What is smart card?

What is smart card?

A smart card is a card that doesn't only just hold information, it has a tiny computer next to very minimal capability that is usually used for payment purposes.

When it comes to smart cards and smart phones and other smart electronics the use of the word smart typically signifies that it does significantly more computing than the normal or average anything it is.
A smart card, chip card, or integrated circuit card (ICC), is defined as any pocket-sized card with deep-seated integrated circuits which can process information. This implies that it can receive input which is processed - by approach of the ICC applications - and delivered as an output. There are two broad category of ICCs. Memory cards contain only non-volatile memory storage components, and probably some specific security logic. Microprocessor cards contain volatile memory and microprocessor components. The card is made of plastic, commonly PVC, but sometimes ABS. The card may embed a hologram to avoid counterfeiting.
